My life doesn't have auto focus. In fact, I seem to have to focus and refocus A LOT! I think part of it is that I am interested in a lot of different things. I see something new and I want to try it. I like polymer clay, ceramics, oil paints, acrylic paints, and watercolor paints, markers, colored pencils, cameras, music, bicycles, walks, books, tidy work spaces, coffee or lunch with friends... I like complete freedom until I get too scattered, then I like routine, until I get bored, then I like freedom and on and on it goes.
This week, I'm having to refocus. An Artist's Journey through Wonderland has gone to press and now the creative world is my oyster. I've started two quilts, one small felted piece, an acrylic painting, a whole cloth painting and two assemblages. Hmmm... I'm thinking this post makes me seem a bit crazy! Well, I don't think I'm crazy... I think I lack focus. It's hard to get anything done without focus.
So, what do I do about it? I take some small steps.
First, I accept myself. I will never get anything done if I spend all my energy being self critical. Next, I make a list.
